Making Records, Breaking Records | Drake’s Scorpion Album Reaches #1
From just a young actor on the hit teenage television show Degrassi, to now dominating the hip hop industry, it is obvious that Drake’s music success is truly all apart of God’s Plan. Drake’s latest album, Scorpion, is pulling numbers that no one has ever seen in music streaming history. His album proved to be the most anticipated album of the summer. On June 29, 2018. Scorpion reached over 170 million streams in just its first 24 hours on Apple Music, beating Drake’s own previous record with his 2017 playlist, More Life, which reached 89.6 million in first day streams. The 25 track album is current holding the #1 spot in both the United States and global streaming records.
Spotify was also in on the action, pulling over 132 million streams in the album’s first 24 hours. June 29th was a #FanLoveFriday like never before and it was confirmed by a recent Spotify tweet that the Canadian rapper was breaking the internet with the Scorpion album being streamed more than 10 million times an hour.
Drake dropped a special editor’s note for all his haters that reads:
One thing that we know for sure is that numbers ain’t never lied and people always gonna talk, but whoever said ANYBODY ELSE > DRAKE must be real salty on this hot summer day, because right now it’s DRAKE > EVERYBODY.
