Chance the Rapper Dropping Something New?...or Naw
A recent interview with the Chicago Tribune, has fans on the edge of their seats after Chance the Rapper dropped hints of a new project release. The Chicago artist reveals that his latest project will be the follow up album to his 2016 Grammy-winning album release, Coloring Book. Everyone has been speculating that Chance the Rapper will be dropping new music sometime later this week after Chance mentioned during his Chicago Tribune interview, “I got that feeling when people do something that has a new feel to it... “I’m excited for everybody to get that. It’s going to come out just in time for the Special Olympics.” Chance the Rapper will be headlining the 50th Anniversary Special Olympics concert this Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Northerly Island in Chicago.
Despite all the speculations, on July 17, 2018, Chance tweeted that he will not be releasing an album this week, but we are hopeful that when he performs on Saturday, he will provide some clarity on when we can expect new music. Nonetheless we are excited to know that he has been busy in the studio.
In his Chicago Tribune interview, Chance confirmed that he has been working on some new music with Kanye West. Earlier this summer, the two met up in Wyoming while Kanye was busy working on G.O.O.D. Chance stated, “We’re up in the mountains around wild animals-- it’s very different out there, and we got some music done, and then he asked me if he could do an album with me.”
It is exciting to know that Chance and Kanye are collaborating and it’s about time that the hip hop music scene gets the refreshed lyricism and style, that these two Chicago artists would most definitely create together.
